This learning material organizes the learning themes according to the core learning elements stated in the curriculum guide. The theme-based volumes are compiled to ensure lateral coherence and vertical continuity of the curriculum, allowing pupils to gradually build basic knowledge across the six learning strands, and develop positive values and attitudes alongside generic skills.
The KS1 portion of this learning materials provides a smooth transition between the kindergarten and primary curricula. The KS2 portion focuses on training pupils in diversified learning strategies and science process skills to prepare them for junior secondary education.
Inquiry is the process of seeking out problems and solutions. This learning material uses questions to stimulate learning. Along with various hands-on and minds-on exploratory activities and projects, it aids pupils in integrating and applying knowledge and skills.
This learning material is compiled for the needs and interests of pupils, and closely connected to their real-life experiences. It allows pupils to make their own discoveries, apply their knowledge in everyday life and share their experiences.
Reading materials are curated thematically, including new reports, case studies, and stories of science, history and historical figures. They widen pupils’ horizons and let pupils apply their reading comprehension skills.
The ‘More to Explore’ section features suggestions for field trips, museum visits and service learning, so that pupils can extend learning beyond the classroom.
With lead-in questions on the unit cover, pupils can take initiative and conduct research before class. Sections such as ‘Life Link’ and ‘Global Vision’ encourage pupils to take advantage of available resources for further investigation. Additionally, each unit features a ‘Self-assessment’ section for pupils to evaluate their learning performance and reflect on more topics to explore.
